If I like a book I usually go back and read it again. Growing up, the Harry Potter (HP) Series were a series that I really enjoyed and loved. This year I decided to re-read the series!

Harry Potter Book Series

GROWING UP AND HARRY POTTER

I grew up in a religious home and when Harry Potter came out the churches were saying that the book was "bad". I was in the 3rd grade when I was given the Sorcerer's Stone as a literature assignment.

My mother and I had to have a conversation about reading the book. At the end, it all worked out guys! My mom and I now laugh about that period of our lives. We had a conversation on how I was going to receive and process the story and information from the book.

Growing up I discovered that reading was my thing, I enjoyed and loved it! I literally could not put the books down. It was so bad that my mom had to get pretty innovative on how to get me to do my chores and not dissuade me from reading. Ya'll, my mother built a bookstand in our kitchen so I could place my book and wash the dishes. Safe to say it took me forever to wash dishes, but they got done (lol).

My reading skills and passion were always there, I pride myself in saying that at the age I was completing each book in the series between 1-3 days. Like I said, I love to read and books.

THE SORCERER'S STONE (#1)

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

The first time I read Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone, I read it in one day...yes, you read that right, ONE DAY. However, this time around it took me longer to read the book. Learning to balance adult life and find time to dedicate to reading has been a little difficult, but I'm not a quitter!

I read this one in January and it was a nice to read something that took me back to my childhood memories. It was also very curious to read the story and begin to click and connect to future events that happen later in the series. I also got a reminder of the characters personalities in the book vs the films. First year in Hogwarts was definitely full of surprises.
